This week's Friday field trip was a day trip to the city of Girona in Northern Catalunia. It was a little over an hour on the train. Girona was especially cool today because it's their annual "Temps de Flors" - Flower Festival. There were flowers everywhere!
Looking up at the Cathedral...
... And looking down at the plaza from the doors of the Cathedral.
This is the view from the top of a hill in Girona. We could see for miles in all directions.
Girona is dissected by a river. The right side in this photo is the older, historical side of the city where we spent most of the day. The left is the more modern side.
I fell asleep for two hours when we got back to Barcelona, woke up and had dinner, and then went out. Tonight I went out with a different group of kids on my trip than usual and ended up having an awesome night. We went to a rooftop terrace bar that our conversation professor recommended. She rocks. From the terrace we could see the castle on top of Tibidabo, the famous buildings along Passieg de Gracia, and La Sagrada Familia all light up. Absolutely amazing.
And after that we walked by La Sagrada Familia all lit up at night. Beautiful.
Great trip! It's cool that they put the flowers and grass on the steps leading to the cathedral. Is that Casa Mila in the center foreground of the first night photo, Kelly?

Yes, that's Casa Mila (also known as La Pedrera) in the first night photo. It was SO COOL to see it all lit up at night! We're planning to go visit and take the tour sometime next weekend. Apparently the view from its rooftop terrace is spectacular.
